ABOUT THE COMPANY CAPS Kurrawang Primary School is a proud member of the CAPS Board, established in 1980. The board is committed to offering Christ-centered education to shape and nurture the future generation, focusing particularly on Indigenous students. Situated within theKurrawang Aboriginal Community 12 km southwest of Kalgoorlie lies CAPS (Christian Aboriginal Parent Directed School) Kurrawang. This Unique Christian Co-ed primary school caters for predominantly Aboriginal (First Nations) students from Kindy to Year six.Currently serving 85 students in mixed-year classes, the school is proud of its 80% attendance rates & high literacy engagement in both English and Wongi.

ABOUT THE ROLE Their cohesive staff fosters a deep connection with each student, supporting their academic, cultural, and spiritual development. Grounded in a biblical worldview, Kurrawang offers a disciplined yet nurturing approach that creates an enriching learning environment where teachers are flexible and adapt to the diverse needs of our students. The school features spacious classrooms, a sports shed, and designated arts and music spaces, which are complemented by the vibrant, family-friendly community.

CAPS Kurrawang is actively seeking applications from dynamic and experienced educators to seize a compelling opportunity and join their esteemed team full-time for Years 5 and 6. We are a small school with a big heart. This role will be supported by an EA.

The key responsibilities include: Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the curriculum. Facilitate engaging and effective classroom instruction, utilising various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles. Evaluate and assess student performance through assignments, exams, and other forms of assessment, providing constructive feedback to support their learning. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, managing student behaviour and promoting a culture of respect and collaboration. Identify and address the diverse learning needs of students, providing additional support or challenges as necessary. Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians, updating them on student progress, addressing concerns, and fostering a collaborative relationship. Foster cultural awareness and sensitivity, especially in diverse classrooms, respecting and integrating cultural perspectives into the curriculum. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to the school community. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information in compliance with school policies. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. You will be expected to perform different tasks to meet the organisation's overall objectives.

ABOUT YOU Ideal Skills Have: A personal commitment to witnessing and promoting the ethos and values of Christianity (practising Christianity is essential). Previous experience with Aboriginal communities and cultures. Proficient teacher status, registered with TRBWA. Strong understanding of the Australian Education System gained from previous experience. Professional demeanour demonstrated a "can-do" attitude and enthusiasm for the work involved in the role. Excellent organisation skills, high attention to detail, ability to prioritise and excellent time management skills. A commitment to positive and caring relationships with students and their families. Willingness to embrace innovative and collaborative teaching strategies. A sense of independence and autonomy. Ability to work collaboratively. Ability to: Live, uphold and exemplify organisation values and behaviours. Display integrity and sound judgment and be committed to ethical behaviour. Communicate effectively. Work constructively and collaboratively with team members and with others. Self-motivated and use initiative to solve problems.
