Carmichael College is a dynamic, developing College, committed to educational excellence in an overt and distinctly Christian environment. We are a non-denominational, independent Christian school located in Morayfield, Queensland. Currently, the College offers a Prep to Year 12 program. With a current student population of 870, projections indicate that student numbers will peak at around 1,400.
The College is seeking applications from experienced, self-motivated, team-oriented Primary Chaplain to provide exceptional support to our Primary Students on campus. The successful applicant will be a highly trusted member of a friendly and hands-on and supportive team.
The Role: Duration: 2 Days Term Time ONLY
Pastoral Care Provide pastoral care to students (individually and in small groups) who may be facing various struggles such as friendship concerns, following grief and loss, separation anxiety etc. Record pastoral care notes according to processes directed by the Chaplaincy Coordinator. Communicate effectively with parents and carers, classroom teachers, and other members of staff around the needs of students. Assist with chapels, discipleship groups, and morning devotions (where invited) with the goal of providing spiritual support and being a mentor to students. Chaplaincy Team Events Work closely with other members of the chaplaincy team and school leadership in planning key chaplaincy events. Be an active part of the team in leading key days such as You Belong Day, World Friendship Day, Are You Okay Day, etc. Building Community Be willing to participate in additional parts of the college life including school camps, excursions, or other special activities or events. Maintain a visible, active profile amongst the college, ensuring you are known to students, families, and staff. Building a sense of connection within the college community by being a part of the Brekkie Club and active at lunchtimes through leading activities or simply connecting with students. Chaplaincy Programs Lead social/emotional programs (such as Rock + Water, friendship groups, or Seasons of Growth) in response to identified needs. The Person: To be the successful applicant you will need to demonstrate:
Active involvement in prayer for the school and those within the school community. Participation in staff devotions, including leading/contributing to small group discussions and prayer. Contributing to the pastoral care of students and others in the school community, as directed by your line manager. Modelling a positive example of Christian community interactions with parents, students, other staff, and the wider community. Providing a clear testimony of their personal faith journey to parents, students, or the wider community when asked. Promoting the Vision and Mission of the school and the underlying values and beliefs to parents, students, or the wider community. Developing an understanding of how this role contributes to the broader Christian education minister of the school. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Eligible to hold a working with children 'Blue Card'. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work under minimal supervision, prioritise workloads, show initiative and work under pressure. Team player. Willingness to be involved in extra-curricular activities. Humility and servant attitude. Have demonstrated ability in mentoring and compassionate guidance and pastoral care to children. Ability to discern stressors and needs arising for young people and their families. Understand the need for confidentiality and respectful discussions of individuals' needs. Hold or be willing to obtain a Mental Health First Aid certification.
