Primary Consultant Psychiatrist Banksia Ward This is a Permanent (Ongoing) role at 1.0 FTE based at RCH ParkvilleExcellent employee benefits including salary packagingWork for Australia's leading Children's HospitalChallenging and rewarding work environmentBest practice implementationAbout the Role This is a permanent position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Mental Health Department, on the Banksia Ward in the RCH main Campus. The Primary Psychiatrist works closely with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to provide consistency in clinical care to the consumers on the ward and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
You will be responsible for Providing direct clinical care informed by the latest evidence to consumers with complex mental health problems referred for inpatient assessments and interventions to the Banksia WardProviding clinical governance to the care provided by the multidisciplinary teamProviding training and supervision to junior medical staff from the RANZCP and/or RACP training programsParticipating in clinical quality improvement activities in the departmentWhat you'll achieve: In collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, provide oversight of the clinical and operational functions of the wardProvide effective, coordinated consumer- and family-centred care to Banksia inpatientsConduct and lead clinical assessments, diagnosis, recovery planning, implementation of the plan and discharge of the consumersIn conjunction with the sessional Banksia Ward Psychiatrists, oversee the intake and access activities of the Ward Access CoordinatorMaintain systems that coordinate clinical care effectively with the ward sessional psychiatristsCollaborate effectively with the NUM to ensure operational and clinical targets are metParticipate in the Clinical Governance and Ward Processes meetingsLead and participate in Quality Activities in the Banksia WardYour skills and experience Registration as medical practitioner and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualificationExtensive experience in working in the mental health sector and sound knowledge of the relevant legislationExcellent clinical skills and a commitment to professional developmentCompletion of accredited postgraduate training in child and adolescent psychiatryAccreditation as an RANZCP SupervisorAn interest in teaching and research with publications in refereed journalsOther requirements: Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtainValid Working with Children CheckCurrent NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtainCompliance with RCH's "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedureApplication process To apply, you will need a resume and a tailored cover letter outlining your skills, experience, and suitability for the position.
