Job Description To improve health outcomes for people in detention by providing comprehensive and sustainable health care.
Coordination of timely access to the most appropriate health care services, including but not limited to general medical practice services, nursing, drug and alcohol and allied health services.
Practices in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs and rights of people in detention.
Permanent Part time - 0.8 FTE ( 4 day per week ) Key Responsibilities: Work in collaboration with the primary health care team to ensure a multidisciplinary, coordinated and integrated approach to service delivery.
Participate in the assessment, planning and implementation of care based on individual detainee needs incorporating a holistic approach to primary health care service delivery.
Undertake a wide range of clinical duties including but not limited to immunisations, blood collection, wound dressings, health assessments, care planning, medication administration, health promotion and education etc, ensuring care is evidence-based and delivered using clinical guidelines and practice to underpin competency.
Provide proficient, evidence-based chronic disease management.
Ensure participation in relevant training and professional development for supporting high quality nursing.
Qualifications General unrestricted registration by AHPRA as Registered Nurse (Division 1) Relevant Post-graduate qualification (desirable) Skills: Ability to prioritise, work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
High level communication skills and the ability to think critically.
Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate change and provide responsive services to meet the needs of detainees.
Computer skills – including but not limited to working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including word processing, spread sheet and database.
Experience: Have at least five (5) years of clinical experience with non-Telehealth-only patient treatment as a Registered Nurse in an operational setting that provides care for patients with health needs.
Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues in the delivery of drug and alcohol related health services and the ability to understand and apply relevant Commonwealth and State legislation, policies standards, guidelines and frameworks to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations.
