Position: Primary Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Sydney (5 days in-office)
Salary: Up to 180k
Design & Build Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading developer and EPC firm in renewable energy to find a skilled Primary Electrical Design Engineer.
This role is ideal for an experienced design engineer with a passion for the renewable energy sector, focusing on high-quality substation designs and primary studies.
You'll be joining a close-knit team of five engineers, working under the Engineering Manager, and overseeing work done by Tier 1 consultants to maintain high standards and act as the primary specialist and interface between the NSP, client, and stakeholders.
The business has doubled in size and been awarded 5+ new projects, some of the most prestigious renewable energy projects in the industry such as a 500kv Substation, making this an ideal time to contribute to its expansion.
Key Responsibilities for the Primary Electrical Design Engineer:Perform concept and detailed primary design, specializing in layouts and technical studiesConduct and review single-line diagrams, substation layouts, and ensure design integritySupport cross-discipline design reviews (e.g., HAZID, HAZCON, HAZOP)Respond to RFIs and oversee FAT/SAT and bench tests when requiredCollaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and external vendors for optimized design solutionsDevelop and review technical specifications, ensuring adherence to regulatory standardsRequirements for the Primary Electrical Design Engineer:5+ years of local experience in HV and renewable infrastructure projectsKnowledge of AS 2067 and experience on the NSP/Contractor sideStrong expertise in primary design, including substation layout, earthing, short-circuit forces, and EMF studiesProficiency in AUTOCAD and/or MicroStationFamiliarity with regulatory permits, HV Transmission Line design, and NSP safety guidelinesHow can you get involved?If your curiosity is piqued and you want to find out more - have an initial conversation with Jasmine on 0405 437 667 and you will be given all the information you need.
