About the role Are you ready to take on a dynamic role where your expertise in Natural Perils Models can make a real impact? RACQ is seeking a Natural Perils Specialist to elevate our Natural Perils Pricing capabilities and contribute to the sustainability and profitability of our general insurance portfolios.
As a key member of our team, you'll leverage your extensive knowledge of Natural Perils Models (for example, flood, bushfire, hail, cyclone, storm, earthquake) to refine Queensland and National pricing strategies. You will ensure that our pricing not only aligns with the market but optimizes our exposure to natural hazards and events, supporting both business growth and portfolio sustainability.
Key Responsibilities: Member-Centric Approach: Balance portfolio sustainability with the affordability pressures faced by our members, while ensuring that pricing aligns with climate change risk.Leadership in Expertise: Be the go-to expert for natural peril-related modelling and analysis, uplifting team capabilities and fostering innovation.Strategic Alignment: Develop and implement processes to integrate natural perils models into product pricing, aligning with broader insurance and reinsurance objectives.Financial Impact: Contribute to portfolio profitability by ensuring accurate pricing, monitoring and controlling risk concentration, and evaluating the effectiveness of pricing decisions.Data-Driven Decisions: Structure and analyse internal and external data to support decisions, utilising advanced analytics techniques to drive insights.Collaborative Teamwork: Work alongside internal and external stakeholders to refine processes and improve natural peril pricing strategies.About you You'll be part of an organisation that values innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. Education: A relevant university degree in Geoscience, Hydrology, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics or a related discipline.Experience: 7-10 years of experience in natural peril pricing for general insurance, with a deep understanding of Australian hazards models.Skills: Expertise in advanced analytics, natural hazards cost modelling, as well as SQL, and other data processing tools. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.Why join RACQ?
