As the Prevention and Preparedness Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in addressing challenges that matter by enhancing the resilience and reliability of Snowy Hydro's operations.
Your work will ensure the safety of our people, the protection of vital assets, and the continuity of one of Australia's most iconic energy providers, delivering operational excellence for generations to come.
In this role, you will:
Develop and coordinate emergency preparedness exercises, including desktop scenarios and crisis simulations, to achieve learning outcomes.
Review and maintain emergency and crisis management documentation to ensure compliance with legislation and alignment with best practices.
Maintain a competency matrix for regional response and crisis management teams, providing direct support to staff in emergency and crisis management preparedness arrangements and responsibilities.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders to maintain and test disruption response plans and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Review and improve Major Accident Prevention management documentation and risk assessments for major accident events.
Coordinate bushfire preparedness activities ahead of the annual danger period and contribute to Snowy Hydro's seasonal requirements.
Conduct inspections of critical emergency response equipment, capturing lessons learned from incidents, and ensuring timely implementation of improvements.
Evaluate and continually improve emergency and crisis management systems through regular assurance activities and system reviews.
What we're looking for:
Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver outcomes autonomously.
Highly developed problem-solving, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Technical writing expertise with a focus on detail and accuracy.
Formal qualifications in Safety or Risk Management, or relevant engineering expertise in a complex operational environment is preferred.
Experience with ISO 45001 standards is highly desirable.
