The RoleACMC is seeking an experienced preparedness specialist to identify, assess and prioritise suitable multiagency exercises; shape exercise design and planning; and advocate for Government, Non-Government and International organisation involvement as appropriate. The successful candidate will also have knowledge and experience in civil-military coordination capacity building and should have the skills to design and deliver training activities relating to conflict and disaster preparedness, both domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will often work independently with reasonable autonomy and accountability to achieve agreed outcomes as part of a broader preparedness program. They will exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of departmental policy and in the application of practices and procedures. The successful candidate will have knowledge of, and comply with, relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and the mission and strategic requirements of ACMC and Defence.About our TeamThe Australian Civil-Military Centre's (ACMC) mission is to support the development of national civil-military capabilities to prevent, prepare for and respond more effectively to conflicts and disasters. In implementing its mission, the ACMC promotes best practice civil-military-police engagement in conflict and disaster management. ACMC is a small dynamic organisation with approximately 30 staff drawn from permanent staff from the Department of Defence augmented by secondees from Australian Government departments and agencies (Defence, Foreign Affairs and Trade, Home Affairs and the Australian Federal Police), the New Zealand Government, and the Australian Council for International Development (Australia's peak non-government sector body). The Concepts and Capability Directorate brings together cross-agency programs on new and emerging civil-military-police concepts, such as Stabilisation, with programs that support the development of civil-military-police capability through preparedness, lessons and evaluation, and humanitarian-government coordination.Our Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will have considerable stakeholder engagement experience (internal and external to Defence) and will consult with key Partner Agencies and Regional Partners in relation to exercise design and execution, civil-military coordination capacity building and preparedness issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations to achieve ACMC and Defence outcomes. The successful candidate must work collaboratively within a small team environment, build effective relationships with team members, and actively participate in group activities.
