Who we're looking for: We are looking for an experienced Pre-Contracts Manager to join our high calibre team in our Sydney office.
As an experienced Pre-Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the preparation and submission of professional EOIs, proposals, and Tender Bids to ensure BMD is successful in being awarded suitable construction contracts in line with the Business Plans and Budgets. The position also involves undertaking some business development activities in conjunction with the General Manager Southern Region.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain relationships at all levels of the industry including, but not limited to, clients, government, regulators, consultants, other contractors, suppliers, etc.Maintain a general market awareness and continuous liaison with the BMD Business Development Manager.Early identification, reaction to, and pursuit of new work opportunities in consultation with the General Manager Southern Region.Strong focus on the identification of construction innovation and higher value/margin opportunities.Maintenance and reporting on an up-to-date prospects database complete with relevant project and contact information reflecting the identification of project opportunities across the range of project size, market segments, and client groups. Manage the compiling of all Tender Bids, including:Management of estimating and proposals teams.Assembling of teams (internal and external) and developing and agreeing winning strategies with the General Manager before the EOI/RFP period commences.Overview pricing, with special attention to identification and management of risks and opportunities.Monitoring tender or EOI submission preparation milestones and arranging necessary review stages.Oversight or involvement in EOI/RFP document preparation to ensure documents are of the highest standard.Full and complete submission documentation within submission deadlines.Post tender negotiations/clarifications.Positive engagement with clients, consulting engineers, and JV partners on Partnering Bids, establishing professional and lasting relationships in building preference partnering status with these stakeholders.Collecting and assessing project completion information to inform bids in future opportunities.Seeking valuable post tender feedback on any unsuccessful bids.Thorough handover to project delivery teams upon award of successful tenders.Other pre-contracts related duties as assigned.Skills and Qualifications: Strong communication and IT skills.Proven people management - management of mid to large sized teams.Tertiary degree in engineering, construction management (preferred).Track record in successfully estimating multidiscipline construction projects.Maintain an optimistic outlook.Travel may be required from time to time, both locally and interstate as required.We offer a rewarding long-term career, opportunities to develop, and a culture that values your contribution.
