Program/Section and/or Family Relationship and Wellbeing Services -Regional Parenting Services
Portfolio: Location: Ballarat. Travel to other locations will be required.

This Position Description intends to describe the general scope, level of work, accountabilities and responsibilities of the position. It does not necessarily include all duties and responsibilities.

(individuals, couples and families) across family and care services, family relationship and wellbeing services,
family dispute resolution services, school counselling, chaplaincy and pastoral care services, homelessness and
housing support, emergency relief, refugee and asylum seeker support services, and victims of crime support
from various office locations and delivery sites across Victoria.
One of our primary areas of investment in addressing homelessness is through our subsidiary CatholicCare
Victoria Housing (CCVH) and in partnership with Government we continue to construct new homes across
Victoria.

About Client Services Client Services comprise client services and activities across CatholicCare Victoria with a range of diverse
practitioner positions across disciplines. Programs are funded primarily from federal and state government and
philanthropic sources.
Client programs and services are grouped as follows:
Client Services Operations – all client facing service delivery across children, youth, adults and olderpersons (individuals, couples and families) with target programs within the streams of Family Relationship
and Wellbeing Services, Family Law Services, Homelessness and Housing Support, Communities for
Children, Family Services and Community Services.
Service Development and Growth - including Schools Unit and CatholicCare Victoria Tasmania (CCVT)contract management.
Position Summary The Regional Parenting program aims to promote the wellbeing and healthy development of children and young
people aged from birth to 18 years by supporting parents/carers to develop their parenting skills and confidence
and to respond positively to parenting challenges. The Regional Parenting program provides group programs and
one-on-one education to assist parents develop strong parenting skills and strategies.
The program works alongside parents to increase confidence and support parents to feel more secure about their
parenting to better support their children.
The program delivers high quality evidence-based educational group work and individual support to
parents/carers, and children to support them through the challenges and transitions of family life by:
teaching methods for dealing with challenging behaviours in children and teenagersbuilding confidence in parentingdeveloping and consolidating skills in listening to and connecting with children and teenagersunderstanding what their children need from themKey Result Areas and Responsibilities The order in which key result areas and responsibilities are listed is not necessarily significant.
Key Result Area Key Responsibilities Service Delivery • Undertake intake and assessment, including risk assessment and screening. This
includes assisting families to develop and implement safety plans if necessary;
prioritising of clients; making appropriate referrals; and crisis intervention as
required.
Plan and deliver high quality parenting and post separation parenting educationprograms to individuals, couples, and children with a range of educational and
therapeutic group programs, which align with targets and funding agreements.Assistance with parenting issues and the development of skills to resolve theseissues in the best interests of the child/children.Deliver services across a range of settings including face to face, telephone,online platforms and outreach to regional areas.Assist in planning and building team capacity and effectiveness to deliverevidence and strength-based programs.Provide quality, culturally responsive, and inclusive services to First Nations,CALD and people from diverse community groups to families and community
members.Provide referrals and advocacy for clients, particularly those who are vulnerableand disadvantaged, and support them to understand the broader service
system.Build relationships with and knowledge of other service providers and makeprofessional referrals to other services where appropriate.Other work-related duties as required.Service Quality • Ensure compliance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and National
Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
Ensure all client information remains confidential as per the Privacy Act 1988(Cwlth), National Privacy Principles (NPPs), organisational guidelines, program
requirements and industry/sector expectations.Maintain client and program data and information as required by legislation andfunding body requirements.Ensure the accurate and timely entry of data as outlined in program guidelinesand in accordance with organisational client data management protocols and
guidelines.Ensure program throughput as required by funding and service agreements andorganisational supervision.Participate in evaluation processes to improve client outcomes and serviceresponsiveness and flexibility.Stakeholder Engagement • Develop, maintain and strengthen existing and new linkages with a range of
service providers and stakeholders.
Participate in network, alliance and sector activities as delegated.Professional • Participate in training and education relevant to the role as identified.
Development • Engage and participate in supervision with line management.
Participate in performance management reviews.Team Participation • Contribute to the on-going development of the team through peer supervision,
reflective practice sessions, collaborative teamwork and providing a responsive
service to all clients accessing our programs.
Contribute to a culture of mutual support, learning and practice excellence bymaintaining currency with research and evidence-based practice.
Actively support capacity requirements within the Regional Parenting programs.Contribute to building team capacity and effectiveness to deliver evidence andstrengths-based programs, including participation in team meetings and
reflective practice.Participate in organisational meetings, working groups and activities as required.The position is also required to perform other duties as lawfully and reasonably directed.
Reporting and/or Supervision Relationships and Authority Reporting Relationship: The position reports to and works under the general direction of the Team Leader, Regional Parenting Services,
within the Mental Health and Family Wellbeing unit, and Family Relationship and Wellbeing Services stream.
Position/s Reporting to Practitioner, Regional Parenting: Not applicable.
Authority: The position is required to adhere to established work practices and sets priorities and monitor workflows in the
position's area of responsibility.
The position is required to exercise a degree of autonomy.
The position works within CCV standards and procedures and Department of Families, Fairness and Housing
(DFFH) Regional Parenting Services guidelines.
The position is required to work within the relevant delegation's policy, procedure and guidelines of CatholicCare
Victoria.
Stakeholder Relationships Internal Relationships: Operates as a member of the Regional Parenting Services team.Collaborates with and maintains working relationships across CatholicCare Victoria.External Relationships: Networks with a broad range of referral pathways.Contacts with stakeholders of the social services sector and the broader Client Services portfolio.Organisational Responsibilities of the Position Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) CatholicCare Victoria is committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, volunteers, contractors,

Employee code of conductinformation privacy and confidentiality;Equal Opportunity, anti-discrimination and anti-bullying; andinclusion and diversity.Key Requirements Qualifications and/or Training 1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Education or relevant discipline.
Experience 2. Demonstrated experience in the delivery of health, social or community services.
3. Demonstrated experience in delivering group-based learning.
4. Preference will be given to anyone experienced in delivering Tuning into Kids/Teens, Circle of Security Parenting or Bringing up Great Kids. Knowledge, Skills and Attributes 5. Strong understanding of a variety of theoretical frameworks and intervention strategies, including working
with children, young people and families.
6. Sound understanding of relevant legislative requirements and funding body frameworks and guidelines.
7. Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
8. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a key member of the team.
9. Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
10. Well-developed working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and windows operating environment,
including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and client management data base systems.
11. A collaborative style of working, as part of a team.
12. Sensitivity to understand and respond to the needs of different audiences and ability to work with a diverse
range of clients.
13. Preparedness to travel, as and when required, to different locations.
Child Safety 14. Demonstrated commitment to the safety of children, young people and adults in a respectful and
inclusive environment for all diversity groups in accordance with the Catholic Safeguarding Standards,
National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, Child Safe Standards and any other relevant legislation.
15. Demonstrated knowledge and application of child safe legislation, principles, standards and practices.
16. Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children, including children
with a disability and from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.

It is the incumbent's responsibility to maintain a current valid Driver's Licence, Victorian Working with Children
Check and Right to Work in Australia.
