Fixed-term, full-time position until the 30th June 2025 based in any region of Tasmania About us: Anglicare Tasmania is a non-profit organisation providing a wide range of community services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to ageing and disability, health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support, and more.
About the Role: The Practitioner – Financial Resilience & Wellbeing delivers Anglicare Financial Management Programs and provides services that assist vulnerable and disadvantaged people build financial health and wellbeing.
The successful applicant will possess demonstrable competency, knowledge, understanding and/or skills in the following areas: A detailed knowledge of financial issues affecting individuals and families within the Tasmanian community, and conceptual understanding of the social and political contexts in which financial counselling services function in Tasmania;Knowledge of relevant government regulations and other statutory requirements that are applicable to financial counselling services;Experience in counselling and high-level interpersonal skills including negotiating and conflict resolution skills and the ability to counsel clients in a supportive non-judgmental manner, as well as an ability to advocate and negotiate on clients' behalf;An ability to assess a client's financial situation, identify possible options and communicate this knowledge to clients clearly and effectively; as well as an ability to support clients to develop self-determination skills;Capacity to engage and support clients across multiple service environments, including office and phone-based counselling, home visits, and outreach to other community agency sites;An ability to prepare and present money management information sessions to community groups;An ability to network and establish effective links with both government and non-government services; knowledge of other services and resources available within the community and the capacity to refer appropriately;Capacity to exercise initiative, work independently and cooperatively with other team members and capacity to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion;An ability to maintain accurate and complete client file records in accordance with good file management practice; as well as an ability to maintain and collate statistics and prepare written reports;Computer knowledge and skills, with ability to operate a variety of applications including email, word processing, and database management software packages;A demonstrated understanding of and an empathy with Anglicare's mission and values;A Diploma in Financial Counselling and eligible to become a member of the Financial Counselling Association of Tasmania (FCAT).What we offer you: An attractive salary including Salary Packaging;A friendly and supportive work environment.The Position Description can be found below. The successful applicant will be required to: Provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check;Present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people/probity type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);Provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;Provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical;Provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.On commencement, the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
