About the rolePart time (0.5FTE) position. The Practice Nurse will play an active role in supporting the ongoing development of the physical and sexual health stream. The Practice Nurse is responsible for providing person-centered support, education, referral, and advocacy to young people aged between 12-25 years regarding their physical, sexual, mental, and psychosocial health. This role will work closely with key stakeholders and the Community Engagement team to promote health and wellbeing in the community and within secondary schools. The Nurse will also build capacity within the multidisciplinary team by providing secondary consultation.

Experience and qualifications required Current Registration as Registered Nurse (Division 2) with AHPRA with tertiary qualifications in Nursing (RN Yr 2 +).Registered Nurse with current AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registration.Certificate of sexual Health /or sexual health training essential.Experience working with young people plus demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to the mental health needs of young people (12 – 25 years) and their families and friends.Minimum 2 years post graduate nursing experience working in a mental health area.The ability to autonomously provide comprehensive nursing services in the primary health setting.Knowledge of best practice interventions and models of care for young people.Demonstrated ability to provide high quality physical and mental health assessments with young people.Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, government policies and strategic directions in relation to mental health and alcohol and other drug disorders, particularly as it relates to young people.Works to develop additional knowledge and skills.Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.Uses various styles of communication to ensure that information being delivered is tailored to the audience.Ensures that communication is factual, accurate and presented in a clear and concise manner.Conversant with relevant community based mental health terminology.Demonstrates an understanding of organisational policies and processes and implements them appropriately.Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people from diverse backgrounds including young people who are culturally and linguistically diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.Broad knowledge of the range of services available to young people in the local government, health, education, employment, and youth sectors.Competence regarding information technology, software packages and willingness to be trained and implement the headspace data collection tool.What's on offer for the successful candidate• Competitive Salary + super + an annual regional allowance• Salary packaging benefits that can help you save thousands in tax• A loading is paid when you take annual leave• Great professional and career development opportunities• Access to take long service leave after 7 years continuous service (based on 1.3 weeks leave for each completed year)!• Discounts with a major health insurance provider• Access to a confidential and professional counselling service, as well as health and wellbeing resources, through our employee assistance program.
