Mallee District Aboriginal Services – Mildura VIC
The Practice Nurse component will provide clinical primary health care service to Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) clients in the clinic and community; working in accordance with professional and cultural standards by:
Contributing to a team approach to health care, through liaison with other clinical staff (GP, Aboriginal Health Workers, Allied Health Staff) and other health service providers.Providing support for clinical skills development of Aboriginal Health Workers.Working in a way that is appropriate to cultural and gender sensitivities operating in the Aboriginal community.Being respectful to clients and treating all information about the client with strict confidentiality.Key Selection Criteria:Experience delivering direct and comprehensive nursing care and individual case management to clients.Experience providing support, direction, orientation and education to other clinical and non-clinical health services staff.Demonstrated ability to act as a role model in the provision of holistic and Best Practice care to clients in the health service.The ability to liaise with other staff and outside agencies in regard to client care, referrals and follow up as required.The ability to work with clients in an ethical manner, which respects their right to live as they see fit and which affords the client a culturally, age, ability and gender appropriate approach to their needs.Knowledge of the Medicare Billing Scheme, Health Promotion, MDAS Occupational health and Safety (OH&S) Policies and Equal Opportunity (EO) principles.Experience communicating sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people.Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous society and culture and their particular concerns and related issues.Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.Qualification/s:Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate of registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) including professional indemnity cover. Previous experience in Primary Health Care.
Other Screening Requirements:A current Driver's License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate & Booster information or a valid medical exemption.
