Due to unprecedented growth, they are seeking an experienced Practice Accountant/Administrator to lead the finance function as a key support role to the business. This is a permanent full-time or part-time role, with the opportunity to combine remote working with office-based hours. This role may even suit someone looking to work around school hours.
About the role Reporting to the Practice Manager and providing a strong support role to the Managing Principal, this newly created role will be instrumental in improving the existing finance systems, policies and processes. This is a unique opportunity to have an impact at both the strategic and operational level. For the right candidate there will be opportunities to transition into a more senior leadership role in the medium term.
You will play a vital part in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm including handling all financial transactions and records related to client cases and the firm. This hands-on role involves managing disbursements, tracking case expenses, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, and supporting the legal team with financial matters.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Management and processing of all supplier invoice processing requirements within the existing legal software and related general ledger systems;Managing client invoice and payment entry across the firm including liaising with external legal and medical professionals and uploading fees into the system;Managing accounts receivable including allocation of payments received, and following up overdue payments;Managing all accounts payable matters including entering bills, expenses and tax coding along with monitoring and reviewing reimbursements and payments;Providing general support to the Managing Principal with financial reporting, general compliance and other business analysis as needed;Reviewing and improving the current practice Finance systems and related processes;Liaising with Medicare, Centrelink and Private Health organisations to effect settlements for clients; Assist with BAS, Tax, and fortnightly payroll with external accountants;Assisting an external Bookkeeper with Trust Accounting and accurate allocation of Trust Monies in accordance with the Legal Profession Act;Prepare comprehensive monthly trust reports, forecast cashflow and other financial reports for the Managing Principal;Prepare yearly reports for trust audits and liaise effectively with auditors;Preparation of final statements to clients and file closures; andManaging and allocating No-Win-No-Fee disbursements and ensuring accurate payments upon settlement of cases.About you This opportunity will appeal to someone with the drive and initiative to make this role their own.
