We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Power Systems Protection Technician, at our Kalgoorlie Depot, on a permanent full-time basis.
About this role As the Power Systems Protection Technician, you will be required to carry out commissioning and maintenance activities with a low to moderate level of technical complexity associated with the Transmission and Distribution Power System Protection Systems both within and external to the Western Power Business. You will also be required to:
Develop medium level complexity work scopes and schedules for internal and external secondary systems work.Plan, supervise, coordinate, and carry out activities associated with the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and repair of secondary equipment and systems.Carry out technical inspections, prepare reports with recommendations and or arrange necessary action.Manage medium level CAPEX and OPEX projects in accordance with estimate, quality, resources, and timing.Carry out medium level complexity specialist technical tasks.Perform medium complexity secondary systems activities for own team and external stakeholders.Provide advice on protection circuit maintenance and processes of medium level complexity.Commission medium level system impact protection circuits and primary plant without supervision.Check, assess designs, calculations, estimates, specifications, working drawings and schedules.Perform Transmission switching up to 330kV in terminals and zone substations. About you We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
Current unrestricted electrical worker's license (WA Electrician's Licence) – essential.At least 7 years or more experiencein the electrical protection environment.A solid understanding of operational Transmission and Distribution power systems.Previous experience in the Power Utility industry.Sound understanding of Secondary equipment maintenance practices.Sound understanding of Secondary equipment commissioning practices.Sound understanding of IEC61850 based substation automation.Knowledge and compliance with Safety regulations and practices.Valid WA Driver's License Class 'C' or 'C-A'Our people are our priority Our people play a vital role in creating an innovative, safe, and supportive workplace, living our values and delivering exceptional service to the communities in which we operate.
