A great opportunity has become available for a Power Systems Engineer to contribute to the once in a lifetime energy transition by delivering Power Systems Modelling & Planning across the transmission network in support of AusNet's obligations as a TNSP.

With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based on Flinders Street, Melbourne and is part of the Energy Network Systems team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
Long term power systems and power flow analysis for AusNet's distribution and transmission networks.
Designing, testing and implementing power systems applications such as State Estimator, PowerFlow, Contingency Analysis, Operator Training Simulator.
Transmission security applications.
Developing network analytics and reporting processes to ensure network reliability.
Developing network analytics and reporting processes to ensure future network limitations are identified in a consistent timely manner.
Development and maintenance of demand and supply forecasting tools, including limit equations for import/export.
Provide day-to-day support of the EMS power system applications.
Be adaptive to changes and innovations that can help us grow our network and support the energy transition.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
Detailed knowledge of bulk power system and experience with power systems applications like State Estimator, PowerFlow, Contingency Analysis, Operator Training Simulator.
Understanding of primary plant, network protection and control devices, with experience in functional design, testing and commissioning of special protection schemes and remedial action schemes.
Knowledge of transmission system reliability and performance.
Knowledge of substation and transmission system components, performance and operation, desirable.
Sound ability in the use of power system analysis tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, SimSCADA, desirable.
Knowledge of all legislated rules and codes governing the business and industry such as the NER, AEMO Power Systems Security Standard, AEMO Power Systems Data Communications Standard.
Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power System Engineering.
Eligibility for registration with Consumer Affairs Victoria's Business Licensing Authority.
Eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia, desirable.
