The Rio Tinto Children's Diabetes Centre (a JDRF Global Centre of Excellence) is a research centre that aims to improve the lives of children and young adults living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) by integrating research, education, and clinical care.

Led by two of Australia's foremost diabetes researchers and clinicians, Professors Liz Davis and Tim Jones, the Centre includes researchers based at The Kids Research Institute Australia's Diabetes Research Team, the Department of Endocrinology Diabetes Service at PCH, and another five national and international partner institutions.

The Opportunity The position of Postdoc Research Fellow in Type 1 Diabetes will work under the guidance of the Mental Health and Wellbeing theme lead to implement the Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy within the Children's Diabetes Centre.
This position will conduct research, analyse data and provide advice and support to clinical and other researchers on relevant psychosocial tools and research design to ensure that all research conducted by the Children's Diabetes Centre has a mental health and wellbeing focus.

Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Contribute to existing and new research projects requiring psychological and psychosocial expertise, as well as grant applications for projects within the Mental Health Theme.
Generate ideas for new research projects with a focus on the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents living with T1D and their families.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders that have a similar focus on the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents living with T1D and their families.
Support staff and students (research assistants, higher degree, and honours students) within the mental health theme.
Preparation of manuscripts, for publication in national and international peer-reviewed journals resulting from research outcomes of projects.
This is a part-time 0.6-0.8 FTE position for 12 months, with the potential opportunity to extend in the future.

About You To be successful in the role you must meet the below criteria: PhD in psychology or related health field.
Evidence of a developing track record of publication output.
Ability to work with a range of stakeholders across research and healthcare including clinicians, allied health professionals, families, and young people.
Experience with research design e.g., developing a protocol, developing or adapting methods to answer specific research questions.
An ability to collect and analyse both qualitative and quantitative data.
Experience with the preparation of presentations and manuscripts for publication, and ethics applications.
Ability to work independently, use initiative and motivate research students.
