About This Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in the Rural Health discipline. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.
The primary purpose of the position is to support and coordinate research projects with the Supervisor, facilitating research that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of regional, rural, and remote Australians. The role requires non-lab-based research expertise, with competency to conduct high-quality mixed-methods research.
Key responsibilities will include: Research: Produces quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high quality outlets.
Participate in applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities.
Work with colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).
Demonstrates personal effectiveness in supervision and the management of researcher development.
Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
About You Completion or near completion of a PhD in medicine or a health-related field.
An emerging profile in research in the Rural Health discipline.
Evidence of leading, coordinating and participating in non-lab-based research.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
Ability to work within a fast-paced, flexible, and supportive team environment.
Understanding of and experience working in a rural healthcare/workforce research environment is desirable.
Current Queensland driver's license.
