NIF addresses Australia's strategic science and research priorities, and this benefits Australian industry and helps keep Australians healthy.We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fellow with experience in neuroimaging, ideally with expertise in ultra-high field (7T) imaging.
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and participate in research programs at the Queensland node of NIF, located at the Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the Herston Imaging Research Facility (HIRF).The opportunity is open to an experienced Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A), Research Fellow (Level B) or a Senior Research Fellow (Level C).
You will be expected to provide project planning and image analysis expertise on a collaborative and consultative basis to both local and external users of the NIF facilities.
Additionally, the role involves facilitating access to UQ and national computational facilities for NIF users, as well as promoting NIF activities to the international, national, and institutional scientific communities.This position offers you the opportunity to develop an independent research profile in the area of MRI and will be integral to imaging project planning and data analysis research activities at the UQ node.
The role reports to the Co-Director of the NIF Queensland Node, Lena Oestreich.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to further develop your expertise and establish an emerging research profile within the discipline of neuroimaging.Key responsibilities will include: Research (All Levels)Teaching (Level B, C only)Supervision and Researcher Development (All Levels)Citizenship and Service (All Levels)This is a research focused position.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324.85 - $102,945.12, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
The total FTE package will be up to $90,470.08 - $120,445.79 annually.At Academic level B.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201.26 - $128,201.75, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
The total FTE package will be up to $126,595.47 - $149,996.05 annually.At Academic level C. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201 - $152,202, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.
The total FTE package will be up to $154,676 - $178,076 annually.As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.The greater of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements including hybrid on site/WFH options and flexible start/finish times, and genuine career progression opportunities via the academic promotions process.About You At appointment Academic Level A:Completion or near completion of a PhD in Neuroimaging, Engineering, Computer Science, Psychology, or related fields.An emerging profile of research in neuroimaging.Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.Proficient in neuroimaging data acquisition, analysis and interpretation.Experience developing, setting up, testing and troubleshooting projects on human MRI scannersExperience in MRI pulse sequence development and imaging reconstruction.Skilled in visualization, segmentation, and registration techniques.Able to introduce and incorporate acquisition and analysis techniques to researchers who are both experts and newcomers to the field.Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activitiesIn addition to the above appointment at Academic Level B:Completion of a PhD in Neuroimaging, Engineering, Computer Science, Psychology, or related fields.A growing profile of research in neuroimaging.A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding.Expertise in neuroimaging data acquisition, analysis and interpretation.Expertise developing, setting up, testing and troubleshooting projects on human MRI scanners.Proficient in MRI pulse sequence development and imaging reconstruction.Skilled in a wide variety of visualization, segmentation, and registration techniques.Evidence of introducing and teaching acquisition and analysis techniques to researchers who are both experts and newcomers to the field.Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activitiesIn addition to the above appointment at Academic Level C:Completion of a PhD in Neuroimaging, Engineering, Computer Science, Psychology, or related fields.An established profile of research in neuroimaging.National recognition and expertise, with an internationally developing profile and an established record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.A strong record of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.A strong track record in in neuroimaging data acquisition, analysis and interpretation.Advanced experience developing, setting up, testing and troubleshooting projects on human MRI scannersSkilled in MRI pulse sequence development and imaging reconstruction.Evidence of a high level of quality in visualization, segmentation, and registration techniques.Evidence of advanced levels of teaching acquisition and analysis techniques to researchers who are both experts and newcomers to the field.A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.Desirable:Experience with ultra-high field (7T) Imaging.Proven skills in collaboration: ability to participate in and manage numerous collaborative projects.Knowledge of imaging technologies: familiarity with MR, PET, and CT imaging technology and research.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment.
