Full-time position (36.25 hours per week)Fixed term to December 2027Located at the picturesque Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, DouglasAcademic Level A: $75,942 -$101,477 plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits.ABOUT THE ROLE As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Aquaculture, you will play a vital role in driving innovation across multiple government co-funded industry programs, including ARC Linkage and CRC research programs.
Your primary focus will be on advancing Near Infra-Red (NIR) diagnostic capabilities, exploring the effects of insect meal diets on aquatic species, and refining genomic breeding techniques for non-model species.
This role involves designing and executing experiments, analysing complex datasets, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve meaningful outcomes.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to impactful scientific publications, mentor postgraduate students, and support the aquaculture industry in adopting sustainable practices.
Working under the supervision of the project leader, you will balance independent research with teamwork, ensuring all research activities align with the highest standards of integrity and innovation.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To excel in this role, you will have a PhD in analytical spectroscopy, data science, quantitative genetics, or a closely related field, coupled with demonstrable expertise in biological experiments and handling complex datasets.
Your proficiency in statistical methodologies for analysing and validating biological systems will be key, as will your ability to effectively communicate research findings through both presentations and scientific reports and publications.
We are looking for someone who thrives in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments and has a proven ability to work effectively within such teams.
Ideally, you will also bring experience in conducting animal breeding or treatment experiments, managing competing priorities, and mentoring or training students.
