About the RoleThe ARC Hub for Digital Bioprocess Development aims to assist the Biopharma industry by increasing digital innovation, productivity, and competitiveness. The Hub engages an interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and computing specialists to develop digitally integrated advanced manufacturing processes and a platform for industry adoption.
Your focus of work will be on downstream processing operations for pharmaceutical protein production. These operations include depth filtration, affinity chromatography, orthogonal processes for virus removal, anion exchange, cation exchange chromatography, and ultrafiltration/diafiltration.
As a Research Fellow, you will develop and validate mechanistic models of these operations, integrated into software programs such as GoSilico and CADET. You will also provide strong mentorship through the co-supervision of PhD students.
Your responsibilities will include:Planning and carrying out research on the research projectDeveloping effective timelines and milestones based on goals of the research programLiaising with collaborators and a variety of internal and external stakeholdersParticipating in Hub meetings and workshopsPreparing and publishing research outcomes in conferences and journalsWho We Are Looking ForWe are looking for a Research Fellow with a sound understanding of engineering fundamentals including mass transfer and process control. You will work well with industry partners and possess the ability to work independently.
You will also have:A postgraduate research degree at PhD level (or near completion) in chemical or biochemical engineering, mathematical process modelling, or biotechnologyHigh proficiency in mathematics, preferably related to mechanistic modelsA record of high-quality research as evidenced by publicationsAn understanding of bioprocessing and cell culture will be highly regarded, as will experience working with Python.This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
