Join a university ranked in the Access state-of-the-art facilities to further your research endeavours Genuine career progression opportunities via our academic promotions process Based at our vibrant and picturesque About UQAs part of the UQ community, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world, and within an environment where interdisciplinary collaborations are encouraged.At the core of our teaching remains our students, and their experience with us sets a foundation for success far beyond graduation.UQ has made a to making education opportunities available for all Queenslanders, regardless of personal, financial, or geographical barriers.As part of our commitment to excellence in research and professional practice in academic contexts, we are proud to provide our staff with access to world-class facilities and equipment, grant writing support, greater research funding opportunities, and other forms of staff support and development.About This Opportunity This Postdoctoral Research Fellow position will focus on investigating the molecular and genetic basis of bacterial and fungal resistance to existing and novel antimicrobials.The successful candidate will contribute to and support the Blaskovich group's research program focused on the discovery and development of novel therapeutic leads to treat bacterial and fungal infections, including fundamental investigations into the interactions of antibiotics with bacteria in order to rationally design better antibiotics.Key responsibilities include: 1.ResearchDevelop a coherent research program and emerging research profile by conducting research aligned with the interests of the Blaskovich group and publishing high impact scholarly papers.Undertake advanced microbiology experiments to investigate the activity of novel antimicrobials, including studies of bacterial adaptation leading to resistance.Investigate the mechanism of action of novel antimicrobials by molecular, cellular, whole-genome and biophysical techniques.Maintenance of database to record biological strain data and genetic results and generation of reports to summarise experimental data.Assist with external proposals, funded projects (including industry collaborations), internal discussions, and dissemination of results through journal publications and conference presentations.Identify gaps in research knowledge and emerging research topics that could lead to the development and implementation of new research programs.2.Supervision and Researcher DevelopmentContribute to supervision of Honour student and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).Contribute to development and upskilling of research group.As appropriate, manage research support staff effectively throughout the employee lifecycle in accordance with University policy and procedures.Working to promptly resolve conflict and grievances when they arise in accordance with University policy and procedures.3.Citizenship and ServiceDemonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values.Develop external relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.Perform a range of administrative functions.Contribute to activities that benefit the organisational unit, including participation in decision-making and serving on internal committees.Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.This is a research focused position.Further information can be found by viewing UQ's .This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 18 Months.At Academic level A the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324.85 -
