Offer DescriptionFull time, 3 years fixed term, located at the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute (SMRI), Camperdown Campus and Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey USA.Opportunity to contribute to research focused on pure or applied mathematics.Base Salary $122,830 p.a. - $145,858 p.a. + 17% superannuation.This position has been enabled thanks to a generous philanthropic donation from the Anthony and Sharon Lee Foundation.About the opportunity: We are one of the largest mathematical sciences schools in Australia, and the University of Sydney is the only Australian university to have received the highest rating of 5 out of 5 for research in the mathematical sciences in every Australian Research Council Excellence in Research for Australia assessment to date. The University also hosts the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute (SMRI), which attracts leading mathematical scientists from all over the world to undertake research with Australian collaborators.
The Sydney Mathematical Research Institute is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher in Pure or Applied Mathematics. This position, based primarily in Sydney, will include 2 x 6 month periods at Princeton University in the USA. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of an academic within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, who aligns with their research field of interest. The candidate will also support the research and outreach activities at SMRI.

a PhD (or near completion) in mathematicsthe ability to supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levelsprimary research interests in mathematics with demonstrated research excellenceexcellent communication skills in mathematicsSpecifics regarding travel and relocation to Princeton University will be discussed as part of the recruitment process.
