The ARC Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems (TMOS) brings together five Australian and 13 leading international universities as well as Australian and global companies to create entirely new optics-based technologies with enormous market potential.
The Centre has received $34.9 million funding from the Australian Research Council to operate from 2020-2027.TMOS will develop the next-generation of miniaturised optical systems with functionalities beyond what is conceivable today.
By harnessing the disruptive concept of meta-optics, the Centre will overcome complex challenges in light generation, manipulation and detection at the nanoscale.
The Centre brings together a trans-disciplinary team of world-leaders in science, technology and engineering to deliver scientific innovations in optical systems for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.About the RoleAn exciting opportunity to join the newly established Australian Research Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems within the Faculty of Science at UTS.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate / Fellow with expertise in nanofabrication and nanophotonic characterisation to contribute to the emerging area of meta-optics.
We are seeking a dedicated researcher to advance high-quality science in the field of meta-optics, delivering innovative solutions to real-world and industry-specific challenges.
The role involves producing impactful research publications, presenting at seminars and conferences, and actively pursuing competitive grant funding opportunities such as ARC fellowships.The successful candidate will provide exceptional supervision for Higher Degree Research and Honours students, contributing to research training programs within TMOS.
Additionally, they will develop new research directions, foster cross-disciplinary collaborations with Chief Investigators, industry stakeholders, and international partners, driving the expansion and impact of meta-optics research.About youWe are seeking a motivated and collaborative researcher with a strong track record of original research, evidenced by high-quality and timely outputs.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the Centre's research performance by providing expertise in experimental design and data processing while contributing to securing external research funding.
A demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team is essential for this role.
Other requirements include:PhD in physics, engineering or a related discipline.Track record of peer-reviewed publications.Proven ability to conduct high-quality research, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and citations.Base Salary Range: $91,390 to $111,307 pa (Level A) / $121,566 to $143,880 pa (Level B)This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.This position is full time and will be made on a 24-month fixed term basis.UTS staff also benefit from a wide range of Employee Benefits including flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.How To ApplyPlease click the Apply link to be taken to the UTS website.
