About this exciting Opportunity As a member of a multidisciplinary team, our Postdoctoral Fellow – Modelling coral reef ecological indicators will apply cutting edge modelling approaches to adapt existing coral population models. In this role you will contribute your sound ecological and modelling knowledge to the application of existing population models to define, characterize and contextualize coral reef ecological indicators and thresholds into an interpretation framework for the Reef Integrated Monitoring and Reporting Program

AIMS AOF Level 4.2 to 4.5 Salary ($88,932 to $97,833 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation Generous leave provisions Onsite Gym, and Fitness Passport Membership (optional) Fixed-term, 2-year appointment Located in Townsville, Queensland About you Relying on your PhD in Environmental Science or relevant discipline and experience in managing large datasets and conducting complex statistical analyses. including, and developing models in the R statistical environment you will explore metrics of reef recovery based on the overlap between observed and expected recovery rates calculated form long term monitoring data, improve existing monitoring indicators to maximise ecological interpretability and characterize the effect of uncertainty and interpretation of monitoring indicators of the condition of coral reefs. Your well-developed interpersonal and communication capabilities will enable you to interact, influence and liaise with colleagues and stakeholders, to ensure that the framework developed is fit for purpose, as well as produce scientific reports and pear review publications within the duration of the project.
NB: Non-Australian Citizens must hold an appropriate Visa with working entitlements that allows paid employment with AIMS for the term of the appointment, depending on the relevant Department of Home Affairs current policies.
