About the RoleThe post-doctoral research fellow at the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences will work on a project funded by the Tiny Blue Dot Foundation, focusing on the neural mechanisms underlying psychosis across different stages of illness. This role involves extensive use of brain imaging techniques such as OP-MEG and fMRI, as well as computational modelling, while engaging with individuals with schizophrenia and those at risk. The fellow will collaborate with leading researchers, oversee student projects, and contribute to data analysis and manuscript writing, all while upholding the School's values and policies.
Your responsibilities will include: Conducting research on neural mechanisms of psychosis using advanced imaging and computational modelling techniques.Assisting and coordinating the computational modelling components of the research project.Assisting and coordinating the preparation of ethics applications and related research protocols.Assisting and coordinating data collection activities (e.g., preparation of data collection materials, recruitment of participants).Training research staff (e.g., research assistants, students) on relevant operational and data collection activities.Who We Are Looking ForThe successful candidate will have a strong background in computational modeling and brain imaging data analysis, particularly with M/EEG and MRI, alongside experience in working with Schizophrenia/Psychosis data, and demonstrated effective supervision of honours and PhD students. They will demonstrate high independence and flexibility in responding to changing priorities, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration, and show a desire to build a career in cognitive neuroscience.
You will also have: A postgraduate degree in neuroscience or related discipline.Background and experience in computational modeling of brain imaging data (M/EEG and MRI).Experience with acquiring and analysing data from people experiencing psychosis.High degree of independence, flexibility, and responsiveness to changing priorities.Demonstrated ability to contribute to independent and team-based research.Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise honours and PhD students.This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
