Seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to Join the Wealth Inequality in Australia projectPart time 0.5 FTE, fixed term until 31 December 2026Academic Level A, Step 6 $109,301 Pro-rata + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Sydney is looking to appoint a 0.5 FTE Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work with Lisa Adkins, Martijn Konings, Stephen Whelan, and Dan Woodman (University of Melbourne) on their ARC funded Discovery Project Wealth Inequality in Australia: Sources and Solutions.The project aims to investigate the causes and consequences of asset price inflation and increasing inequalities in asset-based wealth in Australia.
It expects to generate significant new knowledge about the evolution of asset-based inequality and about how the increasing concentration of asset ownership is shaping the life opportunities of young people.
Expected outcomes include the identification of policy options available to mitigate the negative impact of asset inflation and growing wealth inequality.The post-doctoral research associate will primarily be involved in the strand of the project focused on policy analysis.
Responsibilities may include literature analysis, archival research, conducting interviews with industry and government actors, and the analysis of interview data.
The post-doctoral research associate will be expected to work closely with the other research associates engaged in the project and assist with day-to-day project management.
