OverviewReporting to the Head of Strategic Portfolio Management, the portfolio manager is accountable for a portfolio of investments and initiatives to achieve the organization's goals and objectives, specifically in the delivery of Transformational change. Lead multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to deliver portfolio outcomes. Acts as the primary representative in governance forums and with accountability for stakeholder engagement, communications, and for reporting the state and performance of initiatives within the portfolio. Analyses and evaluates data to ensure an optimized mix of project investments, making the best possible use of all resources, and delivering the maximum value and benefits from projects and initiatives within the portfolio. Identifies, prioritizes and coordinates resources engaged with initiatives within the portfolio.Key Accountabilities and Main ResponsibilitiesEnsure adherence to the Value Office Governance frameworks, and act in accordance with RS (Retirement Solutions) business guidelines, policies, and practices.Management of all aspects of the portfolio including:Demand management and strategic alignment of initiatives.Portfolio categories and criteriaEvaluation, selection, and prioritizationExecution, tracking, and measuring the achieved resultsConduct planning and reviews quarterly — or at other specified intervals — with senior business and IT leaders, and governance bodies to validate and assess the portfolio, execute change and reprioritize as necessary to meet business needs.Inform business leaders and key stakeholders of any issues with the performance of individual initiatives within the portfolio. Confirm that the use of resources and funding is on plan, and highlight any variances.Lead reviews of any significant initiatives, projects, or programs and provide recommendations as to whether they should be continued, changed significantly, placed on hold, or discontinued.Provide criteria for prioritization at the appropriate level aligned to the goals of the investment council and steering committee. Become the point of escalation and arbitration if necessary.Oversee and coordinate dependencies across the initiatives in the portfolio, and resolve or escalate conflicts.Ensure and balance the availability of the required skills and competencies across and within the portfolio.Direct the development and maintenance of communications and reporting for the portfolio including the performance of individual initiatives to stakeholder and governance forums.Direct the creation and maintenance of the required portfolio documentation and artifacts.Experience & Personal Attributes7+ years in diverse roles with increasing leadership responsibilities across project and delivery management, with a focus on organisational transformation activity.3+ years as a portfolio manager.Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams.SkillsExceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the portfolio objectives, inspire and motivate teams, and maintain alignment with business strategy.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and promote the portfolio goals and objectives to the business and to technical leadership.Strong business acumen, including industry- and domain-specific knowledge.A high level of empathy and the ability to vary styles of interaction to match the needs of a variety of business and technical audiences.Influencing and negotiation experience and skills in an environment with high competition for resources.Excellent analytical, conceptual strategic planning, and execution skills.
