We are seeking an experienced and compassionate leader to join our leadership team as Portfolio Manager, Campus Safety and Emergency Management. Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Director, you will oversee a diverse team to drive safety, innovation, and collaboration across the university.
In this key role, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for security, emergency management, and parking operations, while championing wellness and support within the campus community. This is a unique opportunity to shape a safe, inclusive, and resilient environment for students, staff, and visitors.
What You'll Do: Provide Leadership: Oversee a multidisciplinary team ensuring the safety, security, and smooth operations of Curtin's vibrant campus.Support Wellness: Work closely with your management team to identify and respond to safety concerns or wellness needs of students and staff, offering timely and compassionate support.Enhance Campus Operations: Strategically manage and develop initiatives for parking operations and traffic flow, aligning with Curtin's commitment to sustainability and user satisfaction.Strengthen Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement robust plans to address potential crises, ensuring the university is prepared to respond effectively to any situation.Collaborate and Innovate: Partner with government agencies, law enforcement, and internal departments to build a cohesive, community-focused approach to safety in compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.Promote a Culture of Care: Lead initiatives that foster a supportive and secure campus environment where everyone feels safe and valued.About You:
You are a strategic leader with a strong operational background, capable of balancing big-picture planning with day-to-day management. Compassionate and level-headed, you understand the importance of safety, security, and wellness in creating a thriving community.
Qualifications and Experience: Postgraduate qualifications in security, emergency management, or a related field—or extensive equivalent experience.5-10+ years of senior leadership in campus operations, safety, or emergency management.Proficiency with security systems and technologies.Key Competencies: Significant high-level creative, planning and management skills with the demonstrated ability to achieve business objectives, operating and leading large teams and managing complex security operations.Strong interpersonal abilities to connect with people in challenging or sensitive situations.Proven expertise in strategic planning and resource management.A collaborative and solution-focused mindset.Previous proven experience working in a large multi-disciplined organisation focused on delivering 24/7, 365 days per year services in security and emergency management is highly desirable.Work Requirements: Class 4 Security Consultants LicenceValid First Aid and Mental Health First Aid CertificationsWorking with Children's CheckA level of fitness commensurate with the requirements of the positionAbility to work outside of normal office hours as requiredFull working rights in AustraliaThis is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on the campus community by facilitating a safe, secure and engaging environment for our students and staff to thrive in.
