Government - State (Government & Defence)Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Portfolio Governance Specialist (Lead). The Specialist will work with stakeholders to educate, foster, and embed better portfolio management processes among senior leaders and staff within the Division.About the RoleThis role is needed to bring portfolio management and governance expertise to the internal project team and Division. The successful candidate in this role will collaborate with stakeholders across the Division to analyse the current portfolio management practices, identify mechanisms to uplift capability, contribute to the uplift of portfolio, program and project management maturity, and the supporting tools, templates and artefacts.Key duties will include, but not limited to;Contribute subject matter expertise, undertake improvement actions and support organisational changes related to the business transformation project aimed at substantially uplifting the maturity of portfolio, program and project management practices across the Division.Identify and analyse portfolio management and administration practices, identifying workable solutions and areas for improvement across process, technology, capacity and capability.Develop, maintain and govern the application of portfolio, program and project management methodologies, standards and guidelines, gateway processes, tools and templates.Drive continuous improvement activities to uplift portfolio governance further.Contribute to the development of a range of key activities for the Division including performance reporting for the infrastructure portfolio.Provide training, guidance and mentoring regarding portfolio management practices and administration.Manage the preparation and presentation of accurate and comprehensive briefings and reports to support senior and executive management within the department.About YouMandatory experience in portfolio, program, project management and governance.Mandatory involvement in business improvement and/or change management initiatives.With demonstrated infrastructure background and experience in portfolio management who can provide recommendations to assess and uplift capacity and capability.A hands-on person who can work across the board from front-line staff to executives.Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, ensuring timely and successful project outcomes.Proven ability to drive practical change and results.A good problem solver who can get to the bottom of problems and design practical solutions.Presentation skills with the ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand.Formal qualifications in business related disciplines (Business, Commerce, Information Systems).Experience in educational built infrastructure in complex organisations and/or the public sector.The Benefits$119 per hour + SuperContract up to 30 June 2025Full time hours, Monday to FridayFlexible Working - Hybrid (office & WFH days)How to ApplyPlease apply by uploading your current resume in Microsoft Word format only (.doc or .docx).
