Port Marine Surveyor $148,705 - $169,386* + 15.4% super Based in Townsville and Melbourne Full time - Ongoing ABOUT THE ROLE Operations carries out a range of activities to ensure vessels are maintained in good condition, operated safely by people with the required skills, and that cargoes are handled and stowed appropriately to ensure safe transit.
Our people undertake a range of flexible and targeted compliance functions, including communication and education, provision of information and advice, certification and monitoring activities, incident investigation and the issue of notices as the need arises.
A Port Marine Surveyor's role includes: Undertake marine surveys, inspections, and investigations to establish compliance with maritime safety, pollution and other legislation.
Liaise with industry on technical matters and represent AMSA in appropriate forums.
Remain calm and focused when working under pressure.
Carry out compliance and permissioning activities as required.
Commit to the SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience: Marine Engineer Class 1 (desirable for the Melbourne position), or Master (Unlimited) Certificates of Competency, which may or may not be currently valid, or an equivalent tertiary Degree (e.g.
Naval Architect) Extensive experience in the maritime industry in a senior officer role or with significant senior-level maritime expertise.
Knowledge of the domestic and international maritime safety regulation regimes and understanding of the principles of various inspection regimes; Ability to hold and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC); and Hold and maintain a current driver's licence.
