Hays is partnering with the Australian Electoral Commission to support the delivery of the Oct 14th Referendum About the Positions Hays is partnering with the AEC to assist with running the Referendum on October 14th, maintaining the Commonwealth electoral roll, and providing a range of electoral information to the Australian public. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a national electoral event and contribute to a result of historical significance. We are currently looking for a Polling Place Officer in Charge. You will manage a polling place including the preparation, operation and finalisation of arrangements before, during and after polling on voting day. Key responsibilities As a Polling Place Officer in Charge, you will be responsible for: Supervision of staff Management and security of electoral materials Comply with legislation, AEC policy, procedures and guidelines. Manage the polling place and scrutiny Accurate completion of all documentation What to Expect You will: Work on voting day from 7am to 11pm. Supervise 3 to 20 staff depending on the size of the polling place Require the use of a private motor vehicle to collect electoral materials and in some cases return material as instructed Work park of a team Complete online and face-to-face training before commencing in the role Be able to work in an under pressure and fast-moving operation environment Possibly long period of standing or sitting and may need to lift and carry up to 12 kilograms. Clear communication and attention to detail. Eligibility Due to the nature of these roles, to be eligible for these positions applicants must: Be an Australian Citizen Be over the age of 18 years old Be able to obtain a Police Check Be able to maintain political and issue neutrality and impartiality Current driver's licence and access to a registered and comprehensively insured private motor vehicle suitable for transporting electoral materials How to Apply Submit your application using the 'Apply Now' button.
