Policy Officers Our client, a busy state government department located in Brisbane is seeking a number of candidates to join their Policy and Legislation Division. All roles are 6-month fixed-term contracts, commencing as soon as possible.
The Roles: AO6 Senior Revenue Advisor Provide verbal and written advice to stakeholders on novel and complex interpretation and practice issues Undertake research, prepare papers and make recommendations Prepare and issue private and legislated rulings Review and quality assure internal and external matters Coach and mentor division staff, challenge practices and identify strategies to support future business directions and ensure compliance with established guidelines. AO5 Revenue Advisor Make recommendations and issue rulings relating to corporate reconstructions Prepare public rulings and practice statements Undertake research, provide advice to stakeholders and review and quality assure internal and external artefacts Research and maintain working knowledge of current laws, assist with internal strategy and team development and establish strong stakeholder relationships AO6 Senior Policy Officer Develop policy proposals, analyse and review the application of relevant laws and legislation and identify provisions which require amendments Instruct, consult and negotiate on the drafting of legislation and compare legislation of other jurisdictions Prepare briefing, submission, reporting, correspondence and consult on the implementation of recommended outcomes Mentor and coach team and ensure compliance with record-keeping standards. AO4 Policy Officer Assist in developing and drafting of policy proposals, analyse and review applications of relevant laws and legislation related to changing commercial circumstances Identify provisions that require amendment and compare to other jurisdictions for continual improvement Prepare briefing, submission, reporting, correspondence and consult on the implementation of recommended outcomes Actively participate in projects and ensure compliance with all standards and guidelines. About You: To be considered for these roles, you will have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in either a legal advisory (private sector, government legal or government internal review) or government policy development environment. A legal qualification is mandatory. You will also be able to demonstrate the below skills and attributes:
