Merit list/pools and how they will be usedApplicants suitable for the role but not offered the position for the current vacancy may be placed in a merit list or pool. If the applicant agrees, the results may be shared with other Australian Public Service (APS) agencies for filling similar roles. Applicants may be offered a future role without the need to reapply. A merit list or pool may be used for up to 18 months. This merit list/pool may be used to fill other vacancies anywhere in Australia.
Policy Officer | Program Officer | Project Officer | Data AnalystCanberra ACT
As Policy Officer, Program Officer, Project Officer or Data Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying policy issues, conducting strategic analysis, and contributing to system and data optimisation to support evidence-based decision making. You will help drive integrated government policies that support higher education, research and innovation. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in public policy, data analytics and strategic program management.
The key duties of the position include:Contributing to policy outcomes to drive innovation and deliver government initiatives within the research sector, including:Assisting with the evaluation of research commercialisation priorities to support economic growth and innovationContributing to the strategic management of research infrastructure outcomesEngaging in cross-agency collaboration to identify emerging policy issuesEnhancing research performance through strategic project, program and data management, including:Assisting in the management and implementation of large government grants programs such as the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure StrategyContributing to the planning, design, and implementation of research projects to align with national prioritiesSupporting and contributing to the development and optimisation of data systems to improve data collection and processing capabilitiesSupporting the management and analysis of higher education data, including:Contributing to the publication of sector wide demand and assessments in partnership with external stakeholdersFacilitating the delivery of verified higher education data sets to underpin commonwealth Higher Education Loan Payments (HELP)Aiding data system build, optimisation, and/or remediation workEmployment at the Department of Education is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:
