ResponsibilitiesContribute strategic policy advice to Minister and Executive Leadership Team.Research and contribute analysis, evaluation and drafting of recommendations.Shape the agenda to enable and encourage more South Australians to be active!Role DetailsThe Policy Officer reports to the Manager, Sector Policy and Support and is responsible for contributing policy advice in relation to ORSR priority projects, strategic goals and objectives that relate to state and national sport and recreation, racing and boxing and martial arts sector matters including contributing to potential legislative reviews and changes. The Policy Officer is also responsible for contributing policy and portfolio advice in relation to Cabinet, Ministerial and Chief Executive briefings, reports, recommendations and correspondence. This position provides advice and support to other divisions of ORSR, liaises with and supports local state sport organisations, state recreation organisations, industry bodies, Sport Australia, local government, the racing and boxing and martial arts sectors and other relevant government and community organisations.Special ConditionsThe Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.This role requires a working with children check.Some out of hours work may be required.Some intrastate and interstate travel may be required.About the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR)The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) is the lead agency for the Government's policy on sport and active recreation. ORSR is responsible for State Government policy and legislation as it relates to the sector, its key programs, sport and recreation infrastructure and funding programs. The ORSR supports sport and recreation organisations, Councils and the community through the development of policy, programs and resources, the provision of funding, recreation and sport planning, infrastructure development, elite sport pathways and programs, and the promotion of physical activity.About the BusinessThe Sector Capability division provides a strategic and integrated approach towards the development and delivery of recreation and sport initiatives to build diversity, strength, capacity and sustainability with industry clients and the community.
