Company Description The Indigenous Carbon Industry Network (ICIN) is a network of Indigenous-owned organizations across Australia focused on developing and delivering carbon projects, primarily through savanna fire management.
Full members include Indigenous carbon project proponents and producers of Indigenous carbon credits, while associate members are Indigenous organizations with an interest in the industry.
ICIN's mission is to promote an Indigenous-led carbon industry that supports healthy country and better livelihoods for Indigenous people.
Role Description This is a full-time role as a Policy Coordinator at ICIN located in Darwin, NT, with flexibility upon discussion.
The Policy Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating policy discussions, drafting policy positions for consideration by all members, providing advice to ICIN on the latest policy developments and working with the Communications Manager to distribute key policy updates to members.
Applications by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons are particularly encouraged and will be given preference in line with our Indigenous Employment Policy.
Selection Criteria Essential Experience in policy analysis, including keeping across government policy announcements, legislation and interpreting technical updates and key policy issues.Experience in policy development and co-design; collating feedback and coordinating responses on key policy issues from a wide range of stakeholders.Understanding of climate and environmental policies impacting upon Indigenous Australians.Experience in supporting advocacy of key policy issues.Excellent communication skills, including preparing written briefs, policy submissions, talking points and summarising key issues in face-to-face meetings.A working understanding of the principles of Free, Prior and Informed Consent.Commitment to the values and purpose of the Indigenous Carbon Industry Network.An ability to work as part of a small team in a highly dynamic setting.Experience in working for and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a high degree of cultural competency.Qualifications in law or public policy.Desirable A detailed understanding of the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) Act and the Australian Carbon Credit Unit scheme.A broad understanding of the Native Title Act and Indigenous rights and interests in carbon.Interest in Indigenous land and sea management.To apply, please send a copy of your CV and a cover letter addressing the Selection Criteria to ******.
