About Us Join Us as a Policy and Executive Support Officer Are you experienced in executive support with a background in policy and/or research?
Are you interested in the human rights developments liaising and monitoring engagement opportunities with the United Nations? If yes, then this role is for you.
The Australian Human Rights Commission is based in the heart of Sydney CBD, with flexible hybrid and remote work options available. This full-time, ongoing position offers a competitive salary ranging from $80,634 up to $88,798pa, plus 15.4% superannuation.
About the Team The Policy Division supports our President and seven statutory Commissioners to promote awareness and understanding of human rights, conduct research and advocacy, and make recommendations to government to fully implement Australia's human rights obligations. The Policy section also leads the Commission's work on community and NGO engagement, human rights education, international engagement, and partnerships with key government, industry and civil society organisations.
About the Role As the Policy and Executive Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Policy Executive through providing a high level of executive assistant support and work relating to the Commission's international engagement, policy research and United Nations treaty body reporting processes.
Skills & Experience Key Responsibilities Executive Assistance Diary management, visitor support, travel/accommodation arrangements, database, file and record management, leading the coordination of communication streams such as correspondence and telephone calls. Developing and maintaining good relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Provide budget support, including processing paperwork, maintaining and acquiring office supplies, and reconciling accounts. Coordination Support Leading the coordination of key internal Commission meetings including arranging venue, catering, scheduling, document preparation/editing and other support needs as required. Work collegiately with teams across the Commission to coordinate the effective flow of information to and from the Senior Policy Executive to the Chief Executive, President, seven statutory Commissioners, their Executive Assistants and the Senior Policy Group. Research and Policy Support Research and monitor United Nations human rights developments, relevant human rights body sessional meetings and calls for input which are relevant to the Policy Division. Identify and share opportunities for the Policy Division's engagement with the United Nations human rights activities. Where directed support for and coordination of the Commission's engagement with these activities. Support to the Senior Policy Executive for the preparation of the Commission's shadow reports to relevant international human rights treaty bodies. Additional Information Other Requirements Completion of the Commission's mandatory training modules and attendance at workshops. Compliance with the Commission's policies and procedures. Compliance with relevant Commonwealth Government policies. Adherence to the APS Values, APS Code of Conduct and Employment Principles. Adherence to Work Health and Safety employee obligations and duties. Compliance with positive duty requirements through Respect@Work. Demonstrate the ability to fulfill the requirements of the role in an impartial and respectful manner as required by the APS Code of Conduct.
