The Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA) is Australia's national peak body for public and not-for-profit hospitals and healthcare providers. AHHA drives collective action across the healthcare system for reform that improves the health and wellbeing of Australians.
AHHA is seeking a full-time Policy Analyst to join their team in Deakin, ACT. In this role, you will contribute to policy research and development, analysing key healthcare issues and providing evidence-based recommendations. The Policy Analyst will play a critical role in informing AHHA's advocacy efforts, monitoring and supporting our mission of advancing public healthcare.
Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 per annum Location: Deakin ACT 2600
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on complex healthcare policy issues and reform initiative projects. Develop, review, and recommend policy initiatives to enhance the healthcare system and improve public health outcomes. Anticipate and identify policy issues and conceptualise solutions. Perform risk assessment of the existing policies and develop evidence-based policy positions and recommendations. Prepare high-quality policy submissions and briefing papers. Engage with key stakeholders and industry experts to gather insights and strengthen AHHA's policy positions. Monitor legislative changes, health system trends, and innovations impacting public healthcare. Liaison on behalf of AHHA with various stakeholders to develop, implement and drive policies. Develop and present reports, media statements and policy submissions. Monitor and analyse health policy developments and trends. Qualifications/ Experience / Skills: Minimum master of international relations/economics/political science/public policy or related field. A minimum of 1-2 years of full-time experience in a similar setting. Australian experience is required. Strong analytical and research skills. Excellent planning, organisational, prioritisation and time management skills. Ability to initiate activities and prioritise multiple tasks with minimum supervision. High level of attention to detail. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a small team and engage with a broad range of stakeholders including members, government and non-government organisations. Australian citizen/ Permanent resident will be preferred.
