We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.GroupThe Intergovernmental Relations team provides advice on Commonwealth-state funding, including GST Policy and major partnership agreements spanning the breadth of government services. The team supports the Treasurer's attendance at the Council on Federal Financial Relations and the Board of Treasurers, which are important forums for progressing the national economic agenda.About the roleThe roles key accountabilities are:Prepare timely and accurate advice to DTF Ministers, senior management and other areas of Victorian Government in relation to Commonwealth-State financial relations.Undertake quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, both as independent discrete work, and in contribution to broader team projects.Communicate and consult across DTF and other government departments to inform Victorian negotiating positions and strategy, and support Victoria participating in other interjurisdictional processes.Work as part of a team, and on a self-directed basis to deliver timely, quality products and manage processes such as the coordination of interjurisdictional meetings and associated papers and briefings.As required, make contributions across the division and department, to other research or major government reports and publications.About youWe are seeking applications from candidates with demonstrable experience in:Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively or on a self-directed basis.Ability to identify, build and maintain strong networks and relationships with stakeholders to achieve team work objectives.Well-developed analytical, research, policy development and/or quantitative skills.Ability to apply analytical skills to economic, financial and other public policy analysis.Sound understanding of issues related to Commonwealth-state relations, including the core interests of Victoria and other governments.Experience and qualificationsTertiary qualifications in economics, public policy, commerce, law or a related field are an advantage.About our cultureWe aim to be a model employer providing an inclusive workplace that is understanding and respectful of differences such as gender, identity, race, disability or age.
