Location After successfully completing training at the academy, you will be posted to a designated police station around Queensland. Where possible, preferred locations are taken into consideration. However, you could be posted to any region, subject to operational requirements.

Duties Our officers are on the frontline, managing everything from crime prevention and emergency response to community engagement and public safety.
Conduct operational patrols, respond to and investigate incidents, maintain public order, prepare and present evidence. Use a variety of methods to gather, organise and analyse information. Support operational responsibilities through administrative duties, correspondence, and reporting. Provide support and service to the public using problem-solving techniques and effective communication skills to meet the needs of the community. Skills & experience The QPS is seeking individuals with the drive and ambition to make a difference, effective communication and problem-solving skills, and who value fairness and integrity.
17 years or older to apply and 18 years by the time of commencing training. Australian citizen or permanent residency status or New Zealand citizen with special category visa (SCV) or Foreign National with policing experience. Year 12 (or equivalent), or iPROWD program (or equivalent), or minimum 3 years full-time (or equivalent) work. Open driver licence or provisional driver licence with minimum of 12 months experience by time of recruit training graduation. High standard of past behaviour and conduct. Physically and mentally fit for policing duties. Get paid to train : Police recruits receive a training salary and allowance of approximately $55,000 pa, plus free accommodation at police academies in Brisbane and Townsville. HECS/HELP Debt incentive : Up to $20,000 paid on select Higher Education debts such as criminology, social work, counselling or other relevant human services. Competitive salary : The starting salary of a First Year Constable is $87,509* per annum, which comprises $72,322* + 21% Operational Shift Allowance (OSA) upon graduating as a Police Officer plus receive 18% superannuation on top of your salary. Work/life balance : A 38-hour working week means 9 days off in every 28-day roster – ample time to savour Queensland's idyllic weather, active lifestyle, and rich culture.
