There is an exciting opportunity to join Transport and Main Roads, Northern District as the PO5 Principal Engineer (Civil) for the Project Planning & Corridor Management team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and high-performing RPEQ Civil Engineer to engage in the development and management of the district's project planning program. In this role, you will manage the TMR advice provided to various government departments and agencies regarding development applications impacting the State-controlled Road (SCR) network, provide specialist technical expertise to internal staff and third-party applications to perform works and/or activities within the SCR corridor and act as a project manager for the delivery of transport infrastructure planning projects. This role will also supervise staff within the team and manage workloads and performance.
Some of your accountabilities will include:
Provide high level engineering expertise in corridor management in approving activities and the installation of assets by third parties within the SCR reserves to ensure that they do not adversely impact on the functionality and operation of the corridor.Provide high level engineering and project management expertise on TMR projects including providing strategic advice on planning and design suitability, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice is achieved.Provide leadership, conceptual thinking, and resolution of complex problems to various internal and external stakeholders for successful completion of transport infrastructure projects and third-party development within and adjacent to the SCR network.Identify networks and alliances of all stakeholders associated with developments adjacent to SCRs and manage the expectations and issues of all parties, including identifying possible political and high-risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.Lead and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines, and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the conditioning, design approval and construction of developer works and non-TMR works within the SCR.Manage and coordinate team resource allocation, encouraging effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.Engage with and collaborate with other District teams for the effective management of corridor assets.Experience in planning and design, as well as project management, are key requirements of this role. It is desirable that the successful applicant has experience in reviewing and assessing in the areas of traffic management, river/creek flooding, stormwater management and road traffic noise assessments. Further experience in asset management of a road network, and road design for heavy vehicle movements, would be highly sought after.
