This is a 2-year and 2-month contract position, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to a significant program of work.
We invite applications from professionals eager to embrace a new challenge! About the Role: As a Senior Environmental Officer, you will provide specialized environmental advice and services to support the delivery of transport and road infrastructure projects within the region.
Key Responsibilities: Provide technical and specialist environmental advice on the implementation of environmental assessments, legislation, compliance, and management throughout all phases of regional projects.
This includes preparing and reviewing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Reviews of Environmental Factors (REF), Environmental Assessment Reports (EAR), contract specifications, audits, briefs, and other environmental reports, as well as identifying and applying for relevant development approvals (permits), with a focus on continual improvement.
Assist regional staff in supervising road construction and maintenance contracts, ensuring environmental management compliance, auditing, and reporting, while meeting all legislative and departmental obligations.
Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, methodologies, standards, and specifications across District units to maximize environmental management activities and outcomes.
Identify the need for and deliver environmental training to regional staff and associated stakeholders.
Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Environmental Management System.
Collaborate with other Environmental Officers to ensure consistency in environmental management practices across the state.

Experience managing environmental projects, conducting environmental impact assessments, and implementing sustainability initiatives.
High level of accuracy in monitoring and reporting environmental data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex environmental issues.
