We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and motivated individual for PO3 – Agricultural Economist role to contribute to a government role. One position is to be in Rockhampton, and the other position in Mareeba. Contract DetailsHourly rate: PO3.1 is $61.49 (in line with guide)Contract Ending: February 2025 (with possibility of extension) for the Mareeba role. 30 June 2025 (with possibility of extension) for the Rockhampton role. Responsibilities Use appropriate economic methodologies to undertake economic analyses of contemporary agricultural production and policy issues. Provide training to graziers and beef extension officers in the use of economic decision support tools. Visit producers to gather property and herd information to evaluate the implications to farm profitability. Utilise economic results and findings to prepare case studies, reports, papers, factsheets, and other communication material. Present economic findings and other information to farmers. Undertake required projects and activities to ensure project is delivered on time. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders and other government agencies. Essential Skills: Applied experience in agriculture and/or a passion to advance the agricultural sector will be highly regarded. Good time management and organisational skills to assist in the coordination of multiple recruitment processes concurrently. Well-developed Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word skills. Ability to use judgement and discretion with confidential information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical skills Mandatory requirements to this role are: Class C drivers' licence.
