About the Company Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced PMO Lead who will be working within the Portfolio and Contract Management Project which has been established to uplift the division's portfolio and contract management capabilities.
About the Role The purpose of this role is to contribute to building a stronger and optimised portfolio management office and uplift Contract Management across the infrastructure portfolio.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining project schedules and tracking progress across all workstreams and ensuring project objectives are met on time and within scope.
The PMO Lead will engage with workstream leads, monitor project health, identify risks and issues, and provide timely updates to senior stakeholders.
This role is key to maintaining project momentum, coordinating efforts across the program, and ensuring that the transition is executed effectively and efficiently.
Project management and coordination: collaborate across the project team and with external stakeholders to build the integrated project schedule and oversee day to day project management of the project to ensure all activities are progressing according to the plan.
Maintain and update project schedules, coordinating with workstream/ work-package leads to track deliverables, dependencies and timelines.
Monitoring and reporting: Track and report on overall project health, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality metrics.
Develop and deliver progress status updates to senior stakeholders, highlighting progress, issues, and areas needing attention.
Support the Senior Project Manager to develop Executive and Board progress updates Risk and issue management: proactively identify, document, and manage project risks and issues, working with workstream leads and the project team to develop mitigation strategies.
Escalate critical risks as appropriate to maintain project momentum.
Stakeholder engagement and communication: act as the central point of contact for workstream/work-package leads, facilitating communication and collaboration across teams.
Ensure key stakeholders are kept informed of project progress, changes, and decisions that may impact on delivering the project objectives.
Governance and compliance: ensure project governance frameworks are followed.
Support the Senior Project Manager in preparing for governance meetings, including steering committee sessions and project reviews.
Reporting: development of project status reports, dashboards, and senior stakeholder (Executive, Board) level reporting.
Change control: manage change requests, ensuring that any deviations from the project plan are evaluated, approved, and communicated effectively.
Maintain a change and decision log and assess the impact of changes on scope, schedule, and resources.
Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve project outcomes.
Support the development of project management tools, templates, and best practices to drive continuous improvement across the projects.
About You Experience in project management or PMO roles, ideally within large-scale transformation or transition programs.
Proven expertise in project governance and reporting, including development of project status reports, dashboards, and senior stakeholder (Executive, Board) level reporting.
Strong risk and issue management capabilities with a demonstrated ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks in complex implementation projects.
Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including workstream leads, senior managers, and external partners.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of using data-driven insights to inform project decisions and maintain overall project health.
Experience leading and supporting PMO functions , with the ability to foster a collaborative environment and drive high performance across the project team.
Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g.
