Support vulnerable families in the Limestone Coast region by facilitating play-based activities, promoting child development, and enhancing community engagement. The Role
We are excited to offer a newly created part-time (0.2 FTE) role under the Family Connections Program. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this fixed-term position will support vulnerable families in the Limestone Coast area, including Mt Gambier, Penola, and Wattle Range. In this role, you will work closely with families to build stronger parenting capacities, enhance knowledge around child development and family functioning, and encourage greater community participation.
Working Days & Hours Tuesday: 8:00 am – 12:30 pm Thursday: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm The Key Duties In This Role Will Include Assist the Playgroup & Family Support Worker(s) in running community playgroups, focusing on engaging both children and parents. Use play to strengthen connections, build parenting skills, and boost confidence in both children and caregivers. Help plan and prepare play-based activities focused on early childhood for playgroup sessions. Work with families to understand their strengths and challenges, identifying any unmet needs. Help isolated families by providing them with information, resources, and referrals to various support services. Participate in community events to promote engagement and raise awareness of services. About You
You are an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of child development, particularly the needs and behaviour of babies and infants. You possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a good understanding in working with culturally diverse families. You excel in collaboration with other agencies, consistently demonstrating a child-focused approach. Your flexibility and commitment to delivering high-quality support make you a valuable asset in fostering positive outcomes for children and families.
