At Indigo Play Therapy, you will play a crucial role in supporting children through one-on-one play therapy sessions in a safe, non-threatening environment.
You will work closely with children, families, and other professionals to create a nurturing environment that promotes emotional healing and the development of important social/emotional skills.
You will work with children suffering from a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences – including anxiety, ASD, ADHD, abuse, grief, family breakdown, and trauma.
You will help children gain insight and understanding of their experiences, increasing emotional resilience and developing coping strategies while decreasing problematic behaviours and internalised conflicts.
Play Therapists also work closely with the child's parents/carers throughout the Play Therapy intervention.
About our clinic: Indigo Play Therapy is a small, privately owned clinic in Bendigo, Victoria.
We service children from 2-12 years old, including private and NDIS participants.
We focus on providing a calm, safe, and welcoming space for children and families from all demographics and backgrounds.

Core Values: We view children as capable and competent individuals.We value the process of learning over products.We are life-long learners.Children are surrounded by purposeful environments and high-quality resources.Our interactions incorporate the PACE method- Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy.Key Responsibilities: Conduct individual play therapy sessions with children of varying ages (2-12yrs) and developmental stages.Develop and implement personalized therapy plans based on each child's unique needs and therapeutic goals.Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support the child's therapeutic progress and overall well-being.
This includes conducting regular face-to-face parent meetings throughout the course of their child's therapy.Utilize a variety of therapeutic and teaching techniques to address emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges.Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions, progress notes, and parent/family meetings.Stay current with best practices, research, and advancements in play therapy.
Be open to continued professional development in the field.Requirements: Certificate of Play Therapy.Bachelor qualification in a relevant field preferred but not required (e.g., Teaching, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Pathology).Working with Children's Check or current VIT Registration.Experience working with children with additional needs and/or a trauma background.Strong understanding of child development and therapeutic play techniques.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.Ability to work independently with a high level of integrity, as well as part of a team.Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to fostering a supportive, welcoming environment.What we offer: A full-time role with flexibility for scheduling.Dedicated playroom, fully equipped with quality resources.All resources, documentation templates, forms, etc.
