We are seeking an Investment Director who will be a specialist and will focus on the medical science sector of the investment mandate for the fund.
This priority area of the Australian economy is concerned with manufacturing a broad range of products for therapeutic use such as medical devices, medicines, personal protective equipment, and vaccines.
The breadth of the mandate is extraordinary and will appeal to candidates who are comfortable with fluidity, a small team and care about supporting the future sustainability of Australian industries.
The Investment Director is a key leadership role within the investment team, responsible for originating and executing deals as well as overseeing the strategic direction, management, and performance of investment portfolios.
This position requires a seasoned professional with demonstrable experience leading deals with multidisciplined teams, investment strategies, and risk management.
The Investment Director will lead a team of investment professionals, providing guidance, direction, and mentorship to ensure the achievement of investment objectives.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background which would likely include a Bachelor of Science, and ideally coupled with a PhD in stem cell biology, microbiology or pharmacology.
Early career experience as a researcher or clinical scientist with a cancer institute or pharmaceutical company is required, ideally coupled with experience in private equity, VC or M&A within a pharmaceutical company.
Experience across seed to expansion capital will be highly regarded.
You will have 12+ years of work experience and ideally you will have thrived and survived in a high-performance team and are adaptable.
An ability to work with empathy, humility and with an understanding of the founder's mentality will also be highly regarded.
