About Us The Infrastructure Directorate is the City of Stirling's largest and most diverse Directorate, managing many of the City's important assets and environmental services while delivering a multi-million-dollar portfolio of projects and programs.

About the Position We have multiple General Hand positions available, both permanent and temporary roles. These positions will work in either the Engineering Drainage or Reactive Maintenance teams. We are looking for safety-minded people who are versatile and can work across our four service areas which also include preventative maintenance and traffic management. We operate with multiple crews and are looking for experienced operators who have experience in drainage and general roadworks maintenance. We have a large supportive team so good communication skills are essential. We do most of our work in-house and for our drainage roles we use our CCTV van and Eductor truck to identify issues early and are able to do a lot of preventative maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities You will work across the different crews and conduct safety risk assessments, attending and contributing to pre-start meetings. Your responsibilities include:
Minor traffic management Spotting works Provide assistance modifying drainage lids, concrete work, asphalt work, fixing drainage infrastructure Operating induction truck to drain pits to prevent flooding Checking gully grates Operate wiper snipper, excavator, loader or if you don't have these tickets, you will assist and work as the spotter General maintenance to ensure sump tidy Brick/block paving works Asphalt patching works Granopath laying, and minor path construction works About You The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don't tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Minimum 'MR' Class Driver's Licence or willing to obtain within 6 months. Basic Worksite Traffic Management Accreditation (willing to train and obtain within first 6 months) Certificates to Operate Nominated Construction Plant (willing to train and obtain within first 6 months) Safety Awareness Training Certificate (willing to train and obtain within first 6 months) Trades background is desirable Previous experience in drainage and roadworks is desirable We offer our permanent employees the opportunity to undertake a Certificate III in Civil Construction.
