This role involves collaborating with internal and external resources to deliver engineering projects while ensuring that design, construction, and commissioning activities have minimal impact on-site operations.In addition, the Plant Engineer plays a crucial role in using a centralised maintenance management system to optimise the utilisation and availability of site buildings, plants, and equipment. This position requires close collaboration with management, maintenance technicians, and department heads to streamline maintenance tasks, control materials, improve productivity, avoid delays, and reduce maintenance costs. This position will also be involved in various projects aimed at enhancing plant efficiency, including energy efficiency initiatives, solar projects, CO2 management, and grow room tuning.Key Position Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesProvide ongoing engineering site support, applying engineering skills and experience to address mechanical breakdowns, maintenance, and repairs.Deliver and contribute to projects from concept through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, and close-out.Prepare high-quality technical drawings and reports.Exhibit exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and oral.Lead defect elimination (DE) initiatives by analysing asset and maintenance data to identify and prioritise improvement opportunities. Use root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies to identify and implement permanent corrective actions for events impacting asset reliability and maintainability.Promote safety from design through to implementation and operation.Responsible for scheduling preventative maintenance activities and coordinating the maintenance management system, providing technical support to team members.Create and update asset information, equipment hierarchies, maintenance plans, and spare parts.Work with Planning, Production, and Maintenance teams to prioritise and schedule planned maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion with minimal production impact.Create and publish reports and key performance indicators (KPI) to communicate the performance of the maintenance program.Manage spare parts inventory, including stock takes.Liaise with and host contractors, maintaining contractor information and ensuring the acquisition of safety packs, licenses, and certificates.Provide ad hoc maintenance support as required and participate in the on-call roster.About YouQualifications / LicencesTertiary degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.Pre-employment Security and Health Screening.Experience3-5 years experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.Proven experience in project management and maintenance planning.Experience in root cause analysis and defect elimination initiatives.Hands-on experience interpreting and preparing technical drawings and reports.Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment, and utilities maintenance.Proficiency in using maintenance management systems and software.Ability to read and prepare technical drawings.Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in an industrial setting.Familiarity with energy efficiency projects.Strong analytical skills.Exceptional communication skills.Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.Problem-solving skills to address complex maintenance and engineering challenges.Team collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with various departments and external contractors.Proactive approach to safety with a commitment to championing safety through all project phases.
