About the role The focus of the role is to coordinate the workflow of the Statutory Planning Referral team and respond to simple planning applications (Triage applications).
You will be working mainly with the Statutory Referral team in the Inner Metro Region and the Greater Metro Region.
This role is also responsible for analysis, interpretation, and presentation of the statutory planning team's incoming and outgoing data.
This role requires excellent oversight of the priorities of the Team and an ability to manage strong and competing demands for time and attention.
The role requires a self-managing organiser with the ability to provide support to the team, as well as Management.
Position Outcomes As a Planning Support Officer within the Inner Metro Statutory Planning team, your role is crucial in ensuring the efficient handling and processing of various planning-related applications and documents.
You are responsible for the lodgment and allocation of incoming Referral applications, Plans to Comply, inquiries, Planning Scheme Amendments, and VCAT appeals.
Your duties also include providing robust administrative support to Statutory Planners and assisting with the assessment of Triage applications with minimal supervision.
You are tasked with monitoring, reporting on incoming applications and inquiries, and preparing decision outputs.
Additionally, you will assist and collaborate with administrative staff within the Planning Heritage and Practice team on general administrative duties.
You also support the Team Leader in enhancing internal processes and procedures through Continuous Improvement initiatives and informing both internal and external stakeholders about the Statutory planning processes within DTP.
Key skills include demonstrated abilities in handling Referral applications and planning documentation, supporting Planning officers while managing multiple tasks, and preparing regular reports using MS Office.
You are expected to work collaboratively with other administrative staff and Statutory Planning officers using various tools like MS Office, TRS, Spidre, and VMap, and assist in internal process improvements.
